What is breast augmentation surgery?

Breast augmentation is a procedure performed to increase the volume of the mammary glands and to make their shape fuller and more harmonious using silicone implants. The surgery:
    •    increases breast volume,
    •    fills out deflated breasts,
    •    corrects asymmetry,
    •    balances a woman's body proportions.

Why is breast augmentation surgery performed?

Small breasts or a loss of volume can be due to the following reasons:
    1.    Genetically small breast structure
    2.    Loss of volume after pregnancy and breastfeeding
    3.    Significant weight loss
    4.    Hormonal changes
    5.    Asymmetry (one breast being smaller than the other)

How is the surgery performed?

Breast augmentation surgery is performed under general anaesthetic and typically lasts for 1 hour. A corset must be worn for 1 month. Heavy lifting and exercise are prohibited for 1 month.

Recovery process
    •    Mild pain and swelling are normal in the first few days.
    •    A special breast corset must be worn for 4 weeks.
    •    Strenuous physical activity is restricted for 1 month.
    •    The final shape settles within 6 months.

Breast Augmentation and Pregnancy

The surgery does not adversely affect future pregnancy or breastfeeding.
